In Darrin’s Own Words
“I have experience working in multiple settings including intensive outpatient, day treatment, and private practice. I have created and designed intensive outpatient programs for sex addiction as well as drug addiction from the ground up. In each I have brought mindfulness and meditation practices to the forefront of my treatment programs which has resulted in a high-level of improvement in the lives of my clients.
I am directly trained by Patrick Carnes, Ph.D. Dr. Carnes is one of the leading researchers in the field of addiction and has been a pioneer in the field of sex addiction treatment.
Addictions to sex and other things are not about morality. They are not about any judgments of right or wrong. They are coping mechanisms we have used to adapt to emotional trauma in life. Genetics also plays a role, however, emotional trauma is almost always a highly influencing factor. Providing treatment gives me a sense of meaning and purpose in my life. I whole-heartedly feel it’s the greatest privilege in the world to be able to treat someone and see them heal and start living a fulfilling life, outside of their addiction.”

In fact, people come to counseling for many different reasons and may feel nervous about the process. Asking for help can be overwhelming, and it takes courage to reach out for support. Christene provides a safe space for your growth. Considering that each client is unique, she modifies therapy to fit your needs. While Christene brings compassion to her work, she will also challenge you in order to support your therapeutic goals. Christene looks forward to being of support in your journey to a healthier, more fulfilling life.

In Joey’s Own Words:
“At times, life provides us with the opportunities that enable us to grow stronger and accomplish. However, sometimes, it also presents itself in the form of challenges. These life events can take a toll on our psyche and leave us feeling hopeless, unmotivated, uninspired, lost, and stuck. I am passionate and confident in my ability to make a difference in the life of my clients. Having been through many tough patches myself, I understand well the importance of regaining one’s sense of purpose, strengths, values, supports, and goals. I have experiences working with both children and adults using individual and family therapy modalities.
I have dealt with a broad range of concerns including adjusting to foster care, anhedonia, child abuse, family discord, identity crisis, suicidal ideation, trauma and chronic illnesses such as Bipolar, Depression, PTSD, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, and other Psychotic Disorders. My faith-based training and existential perspective allowed me to see each as unique and capable.
I see my clients as partners who work together through a positive and strength-based approach. My intervention modalities include cognitive behavioral, trauma-focused, EMDR, family systems, interpersonal, solution-focused, and emotion-focused.”

About Jeff De La Cruz, MS, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

In Jeff’s Own Words:
“Have you participated in physical or emotional affairs during your relationship? Have you found yourself lying in your relationship even when you have nothing to hide? Do you worry that you will never be forgiven? If so, your relationship may be suffering from serious trust issues that could destroy it if not treated. Counseling is a neutral place for healing and forgiveness. It can be such a hopeless feeling to think that you will never be able to rebuild trust with your partner. I’m here to tell you that you can through understanding how these symptoms are embedded in your relationship and learning strategies to not only change dysfunctional patterns but protect your relationships in the future. I work with both individuals and couples struggling with trust and infidelity in their relationship to help them find hope again and begin working toward a stronger future.”

In Mayra’s Own Words:
“When life becomes unbearable and unmanageable due to addictions, trauma, compulsivity, elevated anxiety and depressive symptoms and we might believe there is something inherently wrong with us forgetting that we can and have the power to change our situation and circumstances. At times we try numerous times to alleviate our symptoms, but it seems that the harder we try nothing seems to work. Asking for help sometimes is perceived as a sign of weakness, but I would prefer seeing it as having the guidance and support we need to lead us in the right path and ultimately heal what has let to the manifestation of the current circumstances. My goal is not to just treat the symptoms, but rather get to the underlying root cause that triggered them. Sometimes when we only heal the symptoms, progress can be temporary before relapsing again.
I have worked with individuals of various cultures, socioeconomic status, ages, and challenges. It is my belief that everyone has their unique set of personal struggles, yet we are all meant to live a happy, healthy, peaceful, and fulfilling life. My intent is to help you align your mind, body and spirit in complete harmony because you deserve it!”
